We cultivate the Loaimes variety of olives trees. It is a very resistant ancient variety unique to the northern region of Granada, and it is endangered because its production is very capricious depending on the years.
We have about 300 trees on our 3.5 hectare hillside plot, north of Granada ( about 15km from the Alhambra and Granada). Of course our farm is cultivated without any inputs other than our good mood and the precious help of our sheep who clear the land for us!
Our plot faces north and the intermittent Rio Blanco separates our area to the north by an entirely virgin hill and towards the east we are flanked by a Regional Park protected since 1989.
We harvest and press the olives 3 to 4 times per year, between the months of November and January,
We have found a piece of paradise here in the mountains without being too isolated because the centre of Granada is only 17km away. The town of Cogollos de la Vega with its of all the same more than 2,500 inhabitants is welcoming and friendly and the quality of life is extraordinary!
